Ceramic coatings can last anywhere from 1 – 8 years! We Currently offer a 3 & 5 year coatings. It also depends on how well maintained the coatings are. If you do not wash your car or frequently use drive-through car washes you can severely shorten the life of the coating. However, if you maintain your coatings regularly then you can potentially have your coating last even longer than its advertised to!
The point of a ceramic coating is to protect a car’s paint and enhance the look of the paint while making the car easier to maintain. It is a glossy, sacrificial layer that protects from oxidation, paint fading, bird droppings, water spots, tree sap and more. It also makes the entire paints surface hydrophobic. The hydrophobic properties makes it difficult for dirt/road grime to stick to your paint, allowing you to wash your car’s paint much easier.
A ceramic coating provides all the same benefits as wax and more. Many people refer to a ceramic coating as a “wax on steroids.” Having a ceramic coating essentially eliminates the need to reapply wax every few months saving you money and time in the long run. Adding wax to a ceramic coating can somewhat “boost” a coating but is not necessary nor does it harm or destroy the coating.
